Rock Music Video.

Album Cover Picture Review.

On the 20th of December 2013, our group decided to take pictures of the album cover we will be creating. Here are some pictures to some of the album cover shots that are revealing myself and Andrew Ducasse both separately and in the same shot.

As we can see, there are different types of shots taken for all 4 of the shots revealing two different situations each. Two of the pictures are revealing only the vocalist of the band which of course is Andrew. There are also two other pictures revealing myself with Andrew. All of the shots in my opinion are revealing because they all have different shots and angles revealing different imagery and backgrounds.

7th Filming Session.

On Thursday the 12th of December 2013, I had to do my 7th filming session which again took place at Andrew Ducasse's house.

The reason why we had to go to Andrew's house again is because we had to film the band shots in the front room to fit into our music video. This did require a bit of assistance as Liam Glencross was unable to be filmed because of his injury that he previously had with his leg. So instead, we got another performer in the music video; Lee Delves. As Liam was not able to play the guitar for the filming, Lee Delves therefore had to take over the position. This left Liam filming for the whole session and also guiding Lee on what he had to do throughout the song.

Like all the other filming sessions, we also involved a variety of different shot types and angles to make the filming more successful and highly advanced. For example, we involved close ups of the electric guitar being played by Lee to reveal that instrumentation was being used. Not only this was show, but also myself playing the drums was used involving a couple of different shots/angles. Liam was mostly filming close ups of me playing the drums as it was important for me to reveal me hitting the drum kit on the beat of the music. Not only the use of instrumentation was revealed throughout the filming session, but also Andrew was lip-syncing with the band to show that the whole band were playing together as an actual fully professional band. One shot that I personally like from Andrew's lip-syncing was when Andrew was looking at the mirror and singing to it. The reason I thought this was good is because it's a different type of shot that we have done compared to every other shot we have done throughout the whole filming schedule. Another reason why this is good is because he is reflecting his emotions to himself to give himself encouragement.

Overall I personally think that this filming session was amazing and it did require a lot of team work in which we have successfully achieved.

1st Draft for Music Video Review.

  • Positive Comments:
  • The performance from Andrew was very effective and most of the lip syncing was in time. Also the use of movement was very successful. His facial expression seemed very good as well to show his emotion towards the song.
  • A load of shots and various of types of angles were used very effectively and successfully. The one shot in particular was the shot were it revealed Myself and Andrew performing in the living room.
  • There were a mixture of long and short shot durations to reveal the importance for each shot. Long shots to reveal the vocalist of the band as he is the leader. There were a few shots of me playing the drums.
  •
  • Negative comments:
  • The shots in the beginning of the music video were a bit long and it needed more cutaways and to make the cuts on-the-beat.
  • There needs to be more instrument shots in the music video so it can look like a rock video. Also there needs to be more band shots involving a guitar in some of the shots.

Editing Process.

When our group were creating the music video, this obviously did require some editing.

Personally, I'm not really good at editing clips and putting them together by involving cutaways and other methodologies for editing.

Throughout the past 2-3 weeks, our group has been doing quite a lot of editing to create a music video. Some of the editing has become brilliant but there are a few bits that could be easily improved. For example, there could be more cutaways to show that it is an actual rock music video. Also some of the walking shots that we used can be a bit more stabilised to make it look steady.

Throughout the process, I haven't yet anything yet but eventually I will move on to the editing side of the music video in which I can progress and become more confident on the editing. All of the others in my music video group have edited some footage and I personally think that it is amazing. Overall though, I would say that Andrew's editing is the best considering he involves more cutaways which a rock video needs in order to make it look successful. The use of stabilsation is also used effectively for the footage and personally what we have done so far, I think it has become so successful.

6th Filming Session.

On the Tuesday the 26th of November, we done the 6th filming session for our music video.

Out of all of the 6 video sessions, this had to be one of the hardest filming sessions that we've tackled so far. There are many reasons for this.

The first reason is because there was only 3 of the members of the group. Liam Glencross was the only one that couldn't film with us because he was currently on crutches. This means the rest of us had to leave him behind and let him edit all of the other footage we currently filmed before.

Meanwhile the rest of us were having a massive problem. We all had to carry separate pieces of the drum kit all the way to Andrew's house which took approximately 15mins to complete. It was quite a struggle considering their was only three of us carrying parts of the drum kit but we managed to accomplish the objective successfully.

When it came to the actual filming, it was quite challenging for myself in particular. The reason for this is because it was the first time I was playing the drums for the music video. This required me to be in time with the beat and the hits of the drum being played in the music. As I was playing throughout the filming session, I then started to progress and began to improve marvelously. There was a concern when our group were filming because I accidentally forgot my costume. However on the plus side, it wasn't a massive catastrophe because Liam wasn't with us at the time and as we know, he is the guitarist for the band so overall, it did turn out okay. Also Andrew Ducasse was continuing to do his lip syncing in front of the camera involving a variety of different shot types and angles. Sophie was the one that was doing all of the filming and also guiding me and Andrew on what we should do when each of us were doing our own individual roles. Here are a few pictures to reveal what our group done throughout the filming session.

As you can see, the top two pictures are revealing myself playing the drum kit with two different shots being used. The other three shots are revealing Andrew looking at the camera getting prepared to sing. His two different shots involve a low angle and a high angle shot.

5th Filming Session.

On Friday the 22nd of November, our 5th filming session took place at the train station.

During the filming session, we involved a variety of different strategies in order to make the filming session reliable enough for the actual music video. This filming session involves Andrew and Liam meeting up with Myself when I was coming out of the train. This again is to show that Andrew needed more support from his band members to cheer him up and show that he is not alone.

Throughout this filming session, we involved a variety of different shot types and angles to make it more successful. The angles that we were using throughout the filming session were low and high angles to show the status that all of us were in, especially Andrew. As well as this, we were also doing some pan shots of Andrew and Liam making there way to the train station. We were also involving taking shots from behind. In the train station, we also involved shots of myself making my way towards Andrew and Liam. I would personally say that this filming session went rather well considering it required less guidance and everyone knew what they were supposed to be doing. Here are a few pictures including a short video to show what we had done the filming session in the train station.

4th Filming Session.

On Tuesday the 19th of November, the 4th filming session was take place at Morden Park.

During this filming session, we involved a lot of techniques that would be suitable for the music video. We all had to walk from the school to Morden which did take quite a while. However this made all of us had an advantage. The advantage was that we can get more walking shots done whilst we were on a way to Morden. Like the third filming session that Myself, Liam and Andrew done on the 12th of November, we involved a different variety of shots and angles to make the filming more effective. Like third filming session, it was quite a challenge because the session did require some guidance.

Once the walking shots were done, we then made our way to Morden Park to do the other shots. These shots involved Andrew being with Sophie. During this process, we were using a variety of different shots and angles to make the filming look more advanced and amazing. During this filming session, Andrew also meet up with Liam to give Andrew some comfort and some assistance. The pictures below are revealing some of the shots that we involved during this session. Below the pictures, there is also a mini clip some of the shots that we have done throughout this filming session.

3rd Filming Session.

On Tuesday the 12th of November, our group decided to film outside near the school to do the walking shots. This was quite a challenge because we had to make sure only Andrew (the vocalist) was in the shot. Another reason why it was hard is because Liam (the cameraman) had to do a variety of different shot transitions. I was the one that had to hold the phone and play out the music in order to make Andrew lip sync with the song. Again this was quite a challenge because I had to make sure that i wasn't in the shot during the filming.

Overall I'd say this was the hardest filming session we've had so far because it required the cameraman to walk backwards most of the time which of course required a lot of assistance and guidance in case anything bad happened throughout the session.  Also we only had three of us in the session which means it wasn't as easy as it would of been. At the end of the session, I would personally say that the filming went really well but of course there were a couple of bits that we could of improved on.

Unfortunately we were unable to get any pictures to prove that we accomplished this task but our completed music video will reveal this.

1st Filming Session.

On Tuesday the 3rd of October, our music video group were filming our first music video session.

Our first filming location took place at Andrew's house. During this music video session, our objective was to get the lip syncing done at Andrew's house. Our objective went very successful at the end. There two main reasons for this; camerawork and use of angles. Throughout this filming session, the cameraman, Liam Glencross, was using a variety of different camera shots/angles in order to make the music video become more effective and successful. He close ups to show Andrew Ducasse's (Vocalist) facial expression when he was lip syncing. The Cameraman also used long shots and mid shots to reveal the location that the vocalist was situated in (which of course was Andrew's house). Liam Glencross also used a range of different angles. He used a mixture of high, low and eye-level angles to show different types of status and also the use of authority that Andrew was having throughout the music video.

Overall, I personally think that the filming session went really well because we used a different range of media terminologies to make the filming more successful and more effective and as a group, I personally think we done a load of hard work throughout the session.

Again we were unable to get pictures that revealed this process taken place.

2nd Filming Session.

On the Tuesday the 5th of November, our group were filming another part of our music video. This time, we were filming the narrative part were Andrew was getting kicked out by Sophie.

Throughout this filming session, we were using a load of different filming techniques in order to make this part of the music video become successful. Our group done a load of different shots in order to make it more effective. the types of shots that our group was doing were a high angle shot, eye-level shot and side angle shots. We used a high angle shot to reveal Andrew getting kicked out of the house to show that he has got low status. We also used an eye-level shot to reveal Andrew's facial expression. Finally, we used a side angle shot to reveal the location that Andrew was in which was outside which again shows that he has been kicked out.

Throughout this filming session, we were also using props and costume in the filming. We used cardboard boxes to show that Andrews belongings were getting chucked out of the house. The costume we used throughout this filming session was very good. The reason for this is because Andrew was wearing a blazer to show a smart sensible character. Sophie on the other hand was wearing normal casual clothing. Precisely, she was wearing a normal top with dark black skinny jeans to show that she is an ordinary normal character. Personally, I looks like Andrew had the higher status considering he was wearing a smart uniform but it turns out Sophie was the one with the most authority out of the two.

As you can see, the pictures on the left are showing some of the shots that Liam took that is part of our music video. The two shots are located both inside and outside of the house revealing different actions taking place.

Location Post. (3)

As you can see, the pictures on this post are revealing the other location that our music video is going to take place in. We chose this location because it has a lot of space which all of us can use to our advantage and also it is a very peaceful environment so that we can film without getting any distractions. I personally like this location because it has a lot of colour around the area which will be very effective for our background. I also like this location because part of our music video involves a member of our group to fall into the pond (picture below). Overall its a brilliant place to film as it reveals a nice and quiet peaceful environment in which it will be easier for all of us to film.

Music Storyboard Video.

The video above is revealing a storyboard video of our music video that we will produce for our project. This music video contains a number of various shot types and angles. Other elements are included in this storyboard music video such as props and location of the video. In my own personal opinion, I do believe that our group have made a good job creating this storyboard music video as this took a lot of time to create and also organising each storyboard picture in the right order to make it match with the music being played in the background.

Storyboard for our Music Video.

All the images above are revealing the storyboard for our animatic music video storyboard. We then all decided to put this music video storyboard into a booklet to make it look professional and well organised. Personally, I think this looks really successful as it shows a variety of different shot types, angles, props being used, back ground location, etc. Overall I think our group have created an amazing animatic storyboard to show what we can follow when producing our actual music video.

Location Post. (2)

This is another location of where our music video would be taking place. This again is where another part of our music video is going to be located in. The reason why we are filming here is because this is where Andrew misses the train. We chose this location because it feels like a good place to film as it contains a very useful background. I also personally like this location because it shows a range level of space which means we can make the use of the space very effectively and successfully.

Location Post. (1)

These picture are revealing one of the locations that our music video is going to be based in. This location is where Andrew will be kicked out. This will happen at the start of the song. The reason why we chose this location is because it has good effects and the background can fit into the music video. I also personally like the location because this location can be used for various shots and angles and also we can get the most out of the location by arranging different editing effects.

Ideas for our Music Video.

This post is revealing three different pictures of some of the plans that we have created that are based around our concept and location ideas. The plans are locations, elements we can use and concepts. The top image is revealing one of the locations that we could use for our music video. We are also thinking about including different shot types and angles inside and outside of the house.
The bottom left image is revealing the concepts of the music video. We are mostly thinking about involving amplification in the music video. This image also reveals the plan for the music video as we were thinking of different ideas in each part of the music video.
Finally the bottom right of the image is revealing the locations that our music video is going to be based in. We are mostly thinking of a house and a park that we would be filming in. This image also reveals different ideas that we could include in the music video, such as band members, props, objects, different shot/angle types, etc.
