Rock Music Video.

Album Cover Picture Review.

On the 20th of December 2013, our group decided to take pictures of the album cover we will be creating. Here are some pictures to some of the album cover shots that are revealing myself and Andrew Ducasse both separately and in the same shot.

As we can see, there are different types of shots taken for all 4 of the shots revealing two different situations each. Two of the pictures are revealing only the vocalist of the band which of course is Andrew. There are also two other pictures revealing myself with Andrew. All of the shots in my opinion are revealing because they all have different shots and angles revealing different imagery and backgrounds.

7th Filming Session.

On Thursday the 12th of December 2013, I had to do my 7th filming session which again took place at Andrew Ducasse's house.

The reason why we had to go to Andrew's house again is because we had to film the band shots in the front room to fit into our music video. This did require a bit of assistance as Liam Glencross was unable to be filmed because of his injury that he previously had with his leg. So instead, we got another performer in the music video; Lee Delves. As Liam was not able to play the guitar for the filming, Lee Delves therefore had to take over the position. This left Liam filming for the whole session and also guiding Lee on what he had to do throughout the song.

Like all the other filming sessions, we also involved a variety of different shot types and angles to make the filming more successful and highly advanced. For example, we involved close ups of the electric guitar being played by Lee to reveal that instrumentation was being used. Not only this was show, but also myself playing the drums was used involving a couple of different shots/angles. Liam was mostly filming close ups of me playing the drums as it was important for me to reveal me hitting the drum kit on the beat of the music. Not only the use of instrumentation was revealed throughout the filming session, but also Andrew was lip-syncing with the band to show that the whole band were playing together as an actual fully professional band. One shot that I personally like from Andrew's lip-syncing was when Andrew was looking at the mirror and singing to it. The reason I thought this was good is because it's a different type of shot that we have done compared to every other shot we have done throughout the whole filming schedule. Another reason why this is good is because he is reflecting his emotions to himself to give himself encouragement.

Overall I personally think that this filming session was amazing and it did require a lot of team work in which we have successfully achieved.

1st Draft for Music Video Review.

  • Positive Comments:
  • The performance from Andrew was very effective and most of the lip syncing was in time. Also the use of movement was very successful. His facial expression seemed very good as well to show his emotion towards the song.
  • A load of shots and various of types of angles were used very effectively and successfully. The one shot in particular was the shot were it revealed Myself and Andrew performing in the living room.
  • There were a mixture of long and short shot durations to reveal the importance for each shot. Long shots to reveal the vocalist of the band as he is the leader. There were a few shots of me playing the drums.
  •
  • Negative comments:
  • The shots in the beginning of the music video were a bit long and it needed more cutaways and to make the cuts on-the-beat.
  • There needs to be more instrument shots in the music video so it can look like a rock video. Also there needs to be more band shots involving a guitar in some of the shots.
